I won't say he *can't possibly* do that because this is our ALP and being completely moronic is no barrier to anything.
However. PremIem is going to need all the reflected gravitas he can muster and installing Costa as Treasurer will terminate any honeymoon period he may have had.
Sigh.

The latest word is that Refshauge's going to hold on, but only after striking a deal to hand over to Carmel Tebbutt when he retires. Traditionally, the Deputy Premier goes to someone on the Left. It will be interesting to see how long the Left holds on to Treasury, given that the usual gang of idiots have steadily chipped away at the only leftist economic initiative - the property taxes - and, no doubt, the final chunk (vendor tax) will fall as a special welcome gift from the new Premier.
